2018’s Magical Moments with Austin Kade Academy

Welcome to Austin Kade Academy! We have a love for all things cosmetology, esthetics, and beauty, but we also feel blessed each day with opportunities to help our community. We make it a focus to encourage our students and staff to participate in charitable service and giving year-round. ‘Tis the season for charity, and this year Austin Kade again had the opportunity to participate in the annual Camp Magical Moments. We’ve participated for the last six years and we hope to continue to for years to come. Check out some of the highlights of this year’s events, and maybe you can join us next year!

Why Camp Magical Moments?

Camp Magical Moments is a charity organization dedicated to offering “children with cancer and their families a place of retreat in an environment of fun, friendship and love.” Camp Director Ann Walsh’s vision of hope has inspired her to spend much of her own time and money to create a camp environment where these exceptional children and their families can experience a carefree week.

The camp runs for a week in June each year in Swan Valley, Idaho. The week is filled with fun activities like zip lining, ice cream socials, and team-building activities. For the children, Camp Magical Moments is a great opportunity to escape from what can be a painful reality. We at Austin Kade have seen how happy these children are to participate over the last six years and we are eternally indebted to Ann for providing such a wonderful experience for these very deserving children.

Doing Our Part

That’s not all that the camp does, though! The camp also sponsors a few other yearly events to continue their efforts for good in the community. The camp directors realized that the mothers of these children equally deserved an opportunity for a sense of normalcy in their lives. Thus the MOM’s Retreat was born. The retreat is designed to offer these courageous mothers a chance to unwind and feel pampered for a weekend. Austin Kade Academy immediately asked how we could participate. What better way than to offer our beauty services?

This year was extra special, and truly full of some magical moments for both us and the participating mothers. Both our staff and students are encouraged to sign up, and when the time came we were so happy to see how many of them volunteered! Austin Kade Academy was also happy to be able to donate many of the supplies used during the getaway.

The weekend consisted of delicious food, spa treatments, and gifts for each mother. Our Austin Kade family was able to flex some of their muscles in makeup, spa, and hair services as they pampered the mothers. Some of the services we provided were:

• Gelish Nail Polish
• Manicures
• Makeup Applications
• Pedicures
• Scalp Treatments

This experience humbles staff and students in an indescribable way. We are able to touch the hearts of these courageous women and bring joy to their lives, even if only for a small moment. In those small moments, these women touch our lives much more than we could imagine.

Austin Kade’s Commitment to Service

Though Austin Kade Academy is a full-time cosmetology, esthetics, makeup, and nail school we feel that it’s our duty to participate in community service. There are opportunities everywhere and we’re happy that one of those is the Camp Magical Moment’s MOM Retreat each year. The last six years working together have proven to be inspiring and even life-changing for our staff and students.
