Meet The Owners of Austin Kade Academy

We recently had the opportunity to interview and get to know each of the owners of Austin Kade Academy, and we came away with far more stories and information than we could possibly contain in a single page or blog! Allison Price, Tyler Price, and Brock Cornelison, the three owners of the school, are an integral part of what makes the school special. We wanted to highlight all three of them in great detail and talk about how each of them bring essential skills and passions to help make Austin Kade Academy successful!

The Origin of Austin Kade Academy

Before you can get to know Austin Kade Academy, you have to get to know Allison Price. Allison began her professional beauty career more than 30 years ago, and has continued to build her career throughout that time. Leading up to founding Austin Kade Academy, Allison worked as a director of education, an artistic director, and she helped open other beauty schools. After seeing and experiencing what it was like to open a school, Allison was passionate to make it happen for herself in Idaho Falls.

Allison had a dream, but it was going to be a difficult road. Allison and her husband, Tyler, didn’t have the money they needed to open a beauty school. Allison was working and Tyler had been a stay-at-home dad of four kids in a small house. The way Allison saw it, they had nothing to lose by diving in and trying to make the beauty school dream a reality. Allison and Tyler had the passion, talent, and work ethic to make a beauty school work, they just needed an investor to help the dream materialize.

It was a long-time friend by the name of Brian Cornelison who would end up being the investor for Austin Kade Academy. At the time the founders hadn’t found a name for the school, and they eventually settled on naming school after one of the sons from each of the founding families, “Austin” and “Kade.” This name would forever serve as a reminder that when you are with Austin Kade Academy, you are with family, and it is by that philosophy that the school is run.

A Change of Hands

If you’re familiar with the current owners of Austin Kade Academy, you may notice that Brock Cornelison hasn’t been mentioned yet. It was his brother, Brian, who originally helped to fund the school as it was opening. Brian was eventually ready to move on to other things in his professional and personal life, so he passed his ownership share of Austin Kade Academy to his brother, Brock, who is now one of the three current owners and supports the school by managing finances. With Allison, Tyler, and Brock together, we have an unstoppable team of owners!

The Ownership Dream Team

Allison, Tyler, and Brock all bring something unique to the table at Austin Kade Academy. Success in the beauty industry comes down to three things: beauty, business, and money management, and three owners embody each of those qualities.

Tyler has an extensive sales and marketing background that is essential for his role at Austin Kade Academy, both for helping the school and the students that attend. With experience working for Franklin Covey, Gateway, Ford, and more, Tyler brings a strong set of marketing skills to the table. He uses his networking and marketing skills to build up the community around Austin Kade Academy, and he uses it to teach students how to become masterful cosmetology business owners. He reviews practices and habits that students should develop to help them become great cosmetologists because we want our students to be successful more than anything else.

Brock brings expertise in finances to Austin Kade Academy, and it’s an essential part of helping the business to grow. Allison and Tyler spend a great deal of time working with students in the classroom or on the salon floor. Brock on the other hand works behind the scenes to make sure that finances and financial aid is handled so that the school can keep ticking. Allison frequently comes to Brock with exciting ideas to bring to the students at the school, and if it’s possible, Brock finds a way to make it happen! All three of the owners help support each other and keep each other working towards the same common goal of helping students at Austin Kade Academy become successful beauty professionals.

Advice From The Owners

Allison, Tyler, and Brock have seen many students come and go through Austin Kade Academy, and in Allison’s case she was once a beauty school student herself. With their wealth of experience, we wanted to know what advice they would give to people who could be considering a future in cosmetology, and each of them had different but insightful responses:

”If you want to excel, then you need to suck in every bit of knowledge out of every instructor you have. Instructors are hired for what is in their heads, and if all you do is listen passively in class rather than be actively engaged, then you are learning a small percentage of what you could know by talking to your instructors.

Be mindful of the experience you want to get out of school. Jump, and the net will appear.” – Allison Price

”I’ll have people who call and say they want to start beauty school in a year. What is going to change in a year? My advice is to take action and get this party started. Now is the time to take action. There are people out there making amazing money and a great life, and our students can be those people.

We want our students to dream and for our students to believe they can have their dreams.” – Tyler Price

”My advice would be to start working towards your career on day one. I know that you’re learning many different things, but you have to build your business on day one. Austin Kade Academy lets you take your clients with you when you graduate, so you need to get all of that going so that when you graduate you have a head start.

If you learn it while you’re in school, it’s going to be that much easier in your career.” – Brock Cornelison
