Before starting your career, you’ll want to spend some time thinking over the things you may want out of it! This is a big decision and it should take some time and consideration. There are plenty of options available to you once you graduate, so it’s a good idea to narrow them down.

Before you commit to a path, do your research. Look into the pros and cons of each career path. This will help you decide what you want out of a career. Here are some things you’ll want to think about for your career:

• Where you want to work: salon, spa, freelance, etc
• What schedule you want for yourself

Market Yourself

Marketing yourself means to spread the word about yourself. It can give you credibility, recognition, and can help differentiate you from others. Marketing your brand is one of the most important things you can do to build your business.

Take this time to build your social media presence and website if you have one! Building your clientele takes time but it doesn’t have to take years. It does take drive and determination though. Knowing how to market yourself is a skill that can take you far in life.

Take As Many Clients As You Can

While you’re building your clientele, it’s a good idea to take as many clients as you can! This is a great way to refine your skills as you progress in your career! Also a great way to build your clientele. The more clients you are able to take, the faster you can build your clientele.

Charge For Services

While starting off your career, you may feel inclined to do free or discounted services. Know your worth! Create a realistic price sheet and stick to it. You know what your time, experience, and expertise are worth so charge accordingly. The process of building your clientele is when it will be the hardest to make ends meet. Once you build your clientele, you’ll be in a better position to give discounts if you want to.

Never Stop Learning

A good student never stops learning, so even after you graduate, you’ll still need to look for opportunities to grow and learn! Get certified in new services and take classes that teach you new techniques. Knowledge is power and the best thing you can do for yourself and your career is to keep evolving.
